We fish for all the deep sea big game fish you can think of including Marlin, Ahi (yellow fin tuna), Ono (wahoo), Mahi Mahi (dolphin fish, dorado), and even Shortnose Spearfish.
We also fish for smaller fish for the kids including Aku (skipjack tuna), and also small yellow fin tuna. They will range in size from 2 lbs -20 lbs.
Prices for exclusive charters (not per person)
$275 half day (4 hours)
$350 3/4 day (6 hours)
$400 full day (8 hours)
Ask about our all day fishing rates as well (10-12 hours of fishing for the serious fisherman)

About The Captain

I have been fishing my entire life. Fishing in Kona, Hawaii is my passion, my work, and my ultimate rush. I have been fishing in Kona since 1986. My dad, Jim Cherry, started the Cherry Pit Sport fishing business and growing up I learned the ropes from him. After he retired I took over the Cherry Pit full time. I have been fishing and enjoying Kona waters for over twenty years. I use tried and true methods and also incorporate my own style and lures. In my spare time I develop and craft my own fishing lures that have been very successful in the water. As a captain, I try to reflect my love for sport fishing on each charter. With many spectacular catches, I have experience and skill to land every big game fish. The Big Island has some of the best fishing in the world and I it enjoy every day. With twenty years experience and the tact and care I ensure on a charter, fishing on the Cherry Pit is always an experience of knowledge, excitement and fun.
